| Chili in the Plate |
Family relationships are not a simple thing, especially if it is concerned a mother-in-low and a daughter-in-law. As a rule, mother-in-low and daughter-in-law are at loggerheads with each other. Usually they cannot share a poor guy. Mothers are jealous because their sons show their love to wives or mothers try to help and daughter-in-low don’t want any interference with her family. So, there are many variants of bad relationships between them. But there are such lucky cases when mothers-in-low and daughters-in-law have wonderful relationships and they perfectly understand each other. Unfortunately, my sister’s situation doesn’t belong to the lucky. Barbara has disgusting relationships with mother of her husband Eric. All problems began even before they got marriage. Mrs. Lockwood – Eric’s mother – was totally against this wedding. She didn’t like that Barbara was from simple family. Her parents work at food production, as far as Mrs. Lockwood was deputy mayor of our town and she was strong and powerful woman. She brought up Eric alone without husband. She is a widow. Once day there was dinner party in Lockwood’s’ house where were all close relatives from both families. They gathered together for celebrating Eric and Barbara’s engagement. As usual, Mrs. Lockwood and Barbara stoked up the war of words and Mrs. Lockwood decided to revenge, a play a little trick on her. Barbara is a strong allergic to spicy food and while there was nobody in the kitchen, Mrs. Lockwood added a big dozen of chili in Barbara’s plate. It is enough a little dab of it that Barbara will have rash and her cheeks will intumesce. Mrs. Lockwood perfectly knew about it and it was her cunning plan. When the after were served Mrs. Lockwood waited impatiently that Barbara tried it on. When it finally happened she beamed with felicity, but as for Barbara, she wasn’t delighted. At a moment she felt bad. She was having a high fever, her face was becoming red and her cheeks were as two air balloons. Everybody was scared and no one could understand what have happened. But when Barbara smelled her food, she clearly smelled chili and she even hadn’t any doubt what person could make it. Of course, dinner was spoiled, because Barbara needed emergency. Barbara knew there wasn’t any sense to say about it to Eric, because she is his mother and she decided to clear up with Mrs. Lockwood by herself and since they have a war. |
